Oil Magnet® filter bags remove tramp oil, hydraulic oil, and other hydrocarbons from water-based fluids while simultaneously filtering solids. The oil-adsorbing construction binds oil on contact and holds it in the bag, so one bag does two jobs in your existing bag housing — no coalescer, no skimmer, no separate system. Effective in water, coolants, inks, and paints (including E-Coat systems). All Oil Magnet bags are made silicone-free.
Three Series Plus an Insert
| Series | Micron ratings | Oil capacity* | Use when |
|---|---|---|---|
| OS-XL “Extended Life” | 1–400 | 1,880 g (~4 lb) | Bulk removal of visible oil at high flow rates with long filter life — wastewater and coolant systems |
| OS-16 “Standard” | 1–100 | 3,270 g (~7 lb) | Efficient removal of oil AND particulate — systems that must stay consistently oil-free, including E-Coat |
| OS-32 “Heavy Duty” | 1–50 | 6,150 g (~13.5 lb) | Trace oils other bags and cartridges pass — approaches total oil removal for fluids that must be oil-free |
| OSI Insert | Adsorption (not micron rated) | 5,970 g (~13 lb) | Drops inside ANY standard filter bag or basket to add oil capacity; floats to adsorb surface oils |
*Capacities for #2 size bags/inserts; micron rating changes capacity only slightly.
Removal Efficiency
OS-16 bags remove 94%+ of oil from the stream — and efficiency rises toward 98% as the bag loads. OS-32 bags hold 99%+ throughout their service life, which is why we say they approach total oil removal. (Figures from our test data at rated conditions; your oil type and loading will govern real-world life.)
How It Works
Contaminated fluid passes through the bag like any bag filter. The oil-attracting layers bind free and mechanically emulsified hydrocarbons on contact and hold them in the bag; the filtration layers capture solids at the rated micron. When the bag is loaded, swap it like any other bag filter.
Typical Applications
- Machine tool coolant — extend coolant life by pulling tramp oil continuously
- E-Coat and paint systems — oil-free operation without added silicone risk
- Parts washers and rinse tanks
- Wastewater compliance — polishing oily water before discharge
- Compressor condensate
Sizes
All standard bag sizes — 7″×16.5″, 7″×32″, 4″×8″, 4″×14″ — plus 8″×32″ and 9″×32″, in steel, stainless, or plastic-collar tops. Pull tabs standard; handles available. The oil-adsorption media can also be fabricated into custom bags, sheets, rolls, or logs.
